Like, really love love.
Which is why February holds a special place in my heart—it's my birthday, my wedding anniversary, and a month dedicated to all things love. I adore wearing pink and red, decorating with hearts, and creating special moments for the women in my life.
But for a long time, I wasn’t good at giving myself love.
The negative voices in my head should’ve paid rent (iykyk).
From an early age, I struggled with insecurity and self-doubt. That spiral led to years of anxiety and periods of depression.
Back then, my body felt like nothing more than an Uber for my head to get around—a vehicle I rarely checked in with, let alone cherished. I was disconnected from myself, especially my sexuality, which felt distant and even foreign.
Until I discovered self-pleasure.
And I don’t mean the quick, five-minute grab-a-vibrator-for-an-orgasm kind of experience (I call that masturbation). I mean intentional, and fully present with my body.
Learning to be present with my body meant giving permission for all parts of me—the parts I’d blamed, shamed, repressed, or tried to hide.
It was about embracing my wholeness, even the pieces I thought were unlovable, and offering them love instead of judgment. This practice transformed the way I see myself, creating space for acceptance, healing, and true connection.
Reclaiming love—self-love—changed everything. Connecting with my body and honoring my desires allowed me to find not just pleasure, but wholeness. It’s a journey I now celebrate every day, especially in February, the month of love.
